The A9L8F451 Acti9 iPRD F40r surge arrester (or SPD) from Schneider Electric is a compact, plug-on Type 2+3 device designed to protect electrical installations in industrial and commercial buildings from direct and indirect transient overvoltages, including surges caused by lightning strikes. As part of the Acti9 system, it offers a simple, cost-effective, all-in-one solution with an embedded back-up fuse, removing the need for external disconnectors or additional kits and allowing direct installation within the distribution board.

This 1P+N modular unit provides reliable, continuous protection and includes remote monitoring alongside clear front-face visual status indication, with a green flag when operational and a red flag when replacement is required. Easily replaceable cartridges help maintain service continuity and minimise downtime, while high discharge capacity ensures efficient protection for sensitive loads even in demanding environments.

Compatible with TT, TN-S and TN-C-S earthing systems, the device operates at 230/240VAC, 50/60Hz. The maximum continuous operating voltage is 340VAC (L-N) and 305VAC (N-PE), with a nominal discharge current of 20kA and maximum discharge currents up to 40kA (L-N) and 65kA (N-PE). The open-circuit voltage is 6kV and the voltage protection level is 1.5kV.

Measuring 18mm (W) x 129mm (H) x 85mm (D) with an IP20 rating when wired, the unit complies with BS EN 61643-11:2012 with A11:2018 amendment.
